Flaming June
Firstly, apologies for the delay in our much awaited
and looked for Diary, this has been caused by our
many other projects we have under way.
Secondly, this month's diary is being written by me
(Paul), so if it does not ascend to the great literary
heights of Penny's previous diary's I apologize in
advance. I can already hear cries of bring back Penny.
The crisis has finally become reality here, we have lost our local bar/restaurant (those of you who have visited know how important it was for us), which was within walking distance and was as always a wonderful melting pot of local gossip, and a great place to improve our Spanish, helped with the odd glass or two of vino calapso.
As Penny mentioned in her last diary we are now in the throes of looking after our vegetables, and with our water system at the moment it is a juggling act switching between the plants and the house. Ah, the joys of living in the campo. Added to which she is now nagging me to get the swimming pool out and usable before the summer ends, as if I didn't have enough to do. The one saving grace is we don't have a shortage of water after the amount we had over the winter, and even some of our streams which would normally be dried up by now are still flowing.
We haven't had any helpexers recently but we are looking forward to some new people in July, and already have a lot of projects lined up for them. One of them being the completion of the flower bed in front of the house, another being the incessant need to weed. Why is it they don't need looking after, but just keep on growing, it's one of the great imponderables in the universe, like: why is there only ever one sock or shoe on the side of the road? The answer is 42, and the mice knew it all the time! Eh!
Well, not a very eventful month compared to the previous one with Mrs.Steptoe's exploits (I do listen to you Bernard), nothing of import has been left by the bin, but we live in hope. Perhaps next month we can change Penny's name to Mrs.Lovejoy, or maybe not.
That's all for now folks, normal service will be resumed next month.
That's it for now from Bacoco,
see you next month....
Angel (and not just in name), our
neighbour helping with the planting.
